   FINANCIAL INFORMATION
MD-RA INSPECTION SERVICE (MD-RA) operates as a division of RECREATIONAL AIRCRAFT SERVICES (RAS) -a not for profit corporation, with head office in London, Ontario.

Members of the Board of Directors of RAS serve as volunteers, receiving no reimbursement for their duties as board members.

Inspectors also serve as volunteers, and receive only a token fee for each inspection, claiming mileage and travel expenses directly from the builders at the time of the inspection.

The office manager is a self employed individual, contracted on a fee for service basis. RAS is not liable for employee type benefit payments for this service.

RAS is responsible under the terms of its agreement with DoT to fund the formal training of the inspectors during the training cycle. This includes travel, accommodation, training materials, and provision of a training location (rental of meeting rooms, for instance). In addition, individual inspectors are reimbursed for costs when training for advancement of skills is available, or when travel may be required to meet the minimum number of inspections during a training cycle.

RAS purchases standard insurance to protect its assets in the head office, which includes a provision for non owned automobiles for the inspectors’ protection.

Inspectors are protected under the terms of the Crown Liability and ProceedingsAct in respect of a tort committed by them, as they are deemed to be Crown Servants while acting under the authority of their delegation.

Any surplus of funds is turned back into the training program and to a savings account to protect against any future low income periods, since we are mandated to provide the same level of service whether the demand be high or low.
